Instant idlis with cracked wheat and vegetables

At my place , we usually have a breakfast of instant oats, bread or fruits. Idlis and dosas are reserved for dinner during the weekends. And as you know,I do not always keep a huge stock of idli batter ready like most of the south Indians do, the instant ones comes to my rescue. That is when I made this variety of instant idlis using cracked wheat and vegetables. The cracked wheat I get in singapore is quite fine, only a tad bigger than sooji or semolina. So I could use it without any problem. But there are huge ones also, So…

How to make Vegetable fried rice – rice recipes–Indi chinese recipes

Indo chinese cuisine is so popular nowadays. I am no less and am fond of this cuisine too. I just love manchurian, noodles and fried rice among them. A common topic which arises when we discuss about this cuisine is about the use of mono sodium glutamate commonly known as ajinomoto. This crystalline salt is believed to enhance the taste of the indo chinese food. But recently , we have been hearing a lot of controversies regarding the use of this flavour enhancer. I just googled to find the reason and found some mixed opinions. Regarding the side effects, it…

Multigrain atta savoury buns

I have been having a good time baking using the multigrain atta by pilsbury. I used them in blueberry cupcakes and then a savoury cake and now in savoury buns with good satisfying results. By satisfaction I do not just mean the texture and taste , but also the fact that they are healthy, and most important, a sense of satisfaction when your kid relishes them with joy!!! Ok, savoury buns were in my to-do list ever since I baked bread for the first time. I got addicted to bread making that time and then suddenly I lost interest in…

Broccoli with corn and peas- Salad

Just like soups , I had been ignoring salad from my diet for a very long time. To be more precise, salad was a rare occurence on our dinner table. I had definitely cut down the inclusion of too much fats in food, having more of low carb foods and more helping of pulses and vegetables. But the inclusion of raw food which contains the maximum amount of fibre…

Pasta with broccoli and mushrooms and an event

Macaroni/pasta would be one of the snacks served by mom when we came from school. We used to be so hungry and our plate would be empty in minutes. How we use to just love this!!! The preperation was so simple, and indianized, pasta mixed with onions and tomatoes with a tempering of mustard and cumin seeds , something like upma. After a few years, mom learnt making the white sauce along with lots of butter, cheese and flour and I just fell in love with this one and liked it more than the traditional version. After having only these…
