Dried peas pasta chundal recipe -Navrathri special

     A couple of years back, my sis had been to see a golu (dolls display during navarathri)with my aunty. There , they had served chundal where even pasta was added to it. My sister had mentioned to me about this. I suddenly remembered about this few days ago. I wanted to make this as a evening snack for my kids. However, I never remember to soak grains beforehand and have always been lazy about this part. Anyway, Navratri was round the corner, so I decided to make this snack for it. I asked my sister, whether they had followed the recipe any dfferently and she never even remebered having this snack!!I followed the usual chundal recipe and added some pasta shells in it. It actually was delicious. The pasta had also absorbed all the flavours beautifully. I loved the crunchy bite of green peas along with the softness of the pasta. Do try and tell me about it!

  1. 1. Wash and soak the peas overnight.
  2. Next day, wash it again. Pour around 1 1/2 glasses of water.
  3. Cook in a pressure cooker for around 6-8 whistles.
  4. It should become very soft, but not mushy.
  5. 2. Cook the pasta till done.
  6. Wash it in cold water and allow the excess water to drain.
  7. 3. Grind the coconut, coriander leaves and ginger to a paste.
  8. 4. Heat oil in a pan.
  9. 5. Add mustard seeds. After it crackles add hing, udid dal, dried red chillies and curry leaves.
  10. 6. When they slightly brown, add the peas and pasta.
  11. 7. Add salt.
  12. 8. Saute well for a minute.
  13. 9. Add the ground paste.
  14. 10. Mix well.
  15. 11. Cover and cook for a minute.
  16. 12. Remove from flame.

13. Serve as a snack.
