I have seen so many recipes with couscous in the net,but never bookmarked any.But,I always wanted to try it.When shopping , I found a packet and immediately bought it. Later I never found the time for it and kept searching for some easy recipes to use up the packet.
One day, in the foodgawker , I saw a recipe of making couscous at home. I was quite interested in the post. I realised it wasn’t very easy to make at home. But generally it was semolina which is cooked by steaming.
So then, I decided to make the popular upma with it. I made it for dinner as we usually try to keep our dinner light. I served it with come gothsu. It was quite delicious.
How to make Couscous upma - Upma recipes- Recipes with coucous
Peanuts-1/4cup(I forgot to add)
Green chillies-2 chopped fine
Heat oil or ghee or a mix of both in a pan.
Add mustard seeds,udid dal and channa dal.
When it crackles, Add peanuts,curry leaves,ginger,green chillies and onions.
Saute till the onion turns translucent.
Add 2 glasses of water followed by salt.
Mix well and cook till the water is completely absorbed.
You can cook by keeping the lid closed for 3-4 minutes.
This will hardly take 5 minutes.(Couscous will be cooked in 5 minutes.)
Serve with some chutney or gothsu.
You can squeeze in some lemon before serving.
You can add come vegetables too.
You can make it spicy with some sambar powder too.
