How to make Cucumber kadi— cucumber recipes

I feel ,whatever we make, the new recipes, the traditional old ones ,though appreciated always, sometimes fails to satisfy the family members , especially when a particular demand is not fulfilled.Everything else made with love loses its value.Oh??You did not understand… Just a thought.

We have to keep on looking for new recipes or modify the old ones so that there is some so called change.

So today , I made this kadi( spicy buttermilk) the usual way, only, thought of adding some cucumber cubes. I have never used cucumber in anything expect in salads and recently in my bhel.

I have seen people adding Dudhi/lauki/bottlegourd in kadi. But cucumber also seemed a great idea and tasted delicious. Everyone loved it and the smile was brought back!!!

  1. After diluting the buttermilk, add besan and mix well. Keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, jeera, fenugreek seeds and rest of the spices. Then add asafoetida and garlic ginger and green chilly paste.Saute and then add cucumber pieces. Saute well and add turmeric powder and salt and allow the cucumber to cook till tender. Then add the buttermilk and heat for another 4-5 minutes.
  3. Serve with rice, but I love with chapatis too.

  1. Hmm I understand what you mean dear! Exactly..then all the effort loses its value :(…but neither the less your kadi looking yummy and adding cucumber is wonderful idea….gud going gal 🙂

  2. I love that you made them with cucumber.
    I wold be happy with a plate of plain rice and this Kadi and some pickles yummm Heaven 🙂
