Kalkandu saadam/bhaat// sugar candy/rock sugar rice-using brown rice

I had a packet of brown rice for a long time,a result of an old habit of picking up things while shopping even if I am not sure how I am going to use it.I do have nice brown rice recipes right here in this blog but I had bought this one with an objective of trying out new recipes. I decided to substitute it for white rice for kalkandu saadam which I was making for a religious gathering.

I will be posting the original recipe with white rice later. Nevertheless I have followed almost the same recipe, but usually the rice is cooked in milk. However I have not used milk here and also I saw no point in adding food colour for brown rice.

The taste was just wonderful. So now on to the recipe below.
