Masala poori recipe — Indian puffed bread recipes

     Pooris have always been a favourite dish at my place. I try to make them atleast once a month especially for my son who loves them. I have had different variations of pooris when I was in Maharashtra at friend ‘s place and my mom used to make them too.

   I also have posted a version of pooris with spinach too. Once our neighbour served us this pooris along with a tangy homemade lemon pickle and the combo was just awesome. It was a very easy to make instant pickle where the lemon was deseeded and ground a little in the blender and mixed with a commecially available pickle masala(spice powder). So this combo was always made at our place and we thoroughly enjoyed it.


Though I have never tried making the pickle here, I make this masala pooris once in a while and we simply love it for our weekend brunch. This time I served with a simple potato curry.

Instructions
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a big mixing bowl. Knead it into a firm and smooth dough adding water. Use oil in the end to make the dough smooth and non sticky.
  2. Pinch a small portion of dough. With your palms,roll it into a smooth ball.
  3. Flatten it to a neat circle with a rolling pin .
  4. Heat the oil to a smoking point. Add the pooris into hot oil and fry till it turns golden brown. Flip with a ladle and cook on the other side too.
  5. Dont allow it to get too brown.
  6. Remove from oil on a tissue paper.
  7. Repeat the same with rest of the dough.
Recipe Notes

Serve with chole or aloo subji, aamras etc. Its your choice. I love pooris with any side dish.

    I like the concept of masala puri. It sounds really nice to guests and also a good menu to serve. It is widely used as Indian Recipes with different vegetables.
