I have never known paniyaram when I was in India.It was never made at our place though rarely something called appe was made. The iron appe pan was placed in the hot oil and the appe was cooked by deep frying. Later , when I came to Singapore, when we were invited to our friend’s place(the same friend where I had iced lemon tea for the first time), they served this dish and that was the first time I tasted this one. It was made with dosa batter. I loved the dish. Later my hubby’s friends who were bachelors also invited us and they served us paniyaram. So , let me tell you that this is such a easy dish and made in no time when you have the paniyaram pan. Even bachelors can make it.

I have also been trying some variations with this pan .Like when I dont have the dosa batter , I have used rava and maida to make instant ones.
My hubby of late has been asking me to make dishes using oats. However I do make oats dosa quite often. I also have oats dosa recipe in the blog. I made almost the same batter for this paniyaram.
They really tasted so good and its so easy to make ,that I am going to make this more often maybe with slight variations.
