Potato bread ball/rolls recipe -easy low fat snack recipes

How I wish I could post everyday or atleast in every 2- 3 days.It really gives me lot of joy right from cooking to taking photos , editing them and doing a post. But of course other things takes the priorites pushing blogging at the end. It was super long weekened last week and I did cook some yummy stuff. There are a list of posts to be done , but that will be done gradually in the following days.


I saw this recipe here and I immediately wanted to make them. It sounded too good and was sure the kids would love it. I did not want to deep fry, the appe pan came to the rescue. It came out delicious and was crunchy. We felt happy that it was not deep fried though the kids would have enjoyed that more. So its your choice whether you want to deep fry or use this low fat version. Do give your feedback if you try it.

  1. Boil the potatoes till soft and mash it well.
  2. Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan.
  3. Add the onions and saute till it is soft.
  4. Add the mashed potatoes along with the turmeric powder and salt and mix well.
  5. Add the coriander powder and garam masala along with the coriander leaves.
  6. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes and nremove from flame.
  7. Allow it to cool slightly.
  8. Dip the bread slices in water.squeeze out the water.
  9. Take a small portion.Flatten it to a disc.
  10. Place a small portion of pottao filling on it.
  11. Cover it from all sides and smoothen using your palms.
  12. Heat a paniyaaram/appe pan.
  13. Pour few drops of oil in each well.
  14. Once it is hot, place the prepared balls into the wells.
  15. When it is brown on one side, flip and allow the top side to cook as well to a brown colour.
  16. Repeat the same process for all the potato bread balls.
  17. Serve warm with some tomato ketchup.

Notes-

You can use white bread or even whole wheat bread.

I made a very simple and mild filling, you can make it as per your liking by adding more spices etc.

You can even add more vegetables like carrots and peas.
